This self-paced professional development course helps educators fully comprehend and implement the tenets of Choose2Matter, a movement inspired by the life’s work of Angela Maiers.
The course includes access to an implementation guide and classroom-ready student materials to help integrate this model into your teaching. It will take about eight hours to complete.
Choose2Matter stems from Angela Maiers’ talk at TEDxDesMoines in June 2011. Fostering empathy, empowerment, and self-awareness, Choose2Matter has been presented at hundreds of conferences and school districts around the world.
In this online course, you will learn how to empower students to be collaborative, innovative, and passionate agents of social change. Course facilitators will provide substantial follow-up to ensure the lessons are fully adopted.
You will receive classroom-ready materials for your students and an implementation guide to help you transform your students and classroom culture.
Course Testimonial: The lessons in the Choose2Matter course furnish outstanding insight and advice on how to model and encourage bravery, vulnerability, curiosity, risk-taking, problem-solving, and persistence. Students have responded in kind, demonstrating these traits consistently in our work together. The exercises included in the course have helped me slow down and become more intentional about my interactions with my students, my family, my colleagues, and others. I find myself being truly present, and listening to what they are saying, verbally and non-verbally.
